Open access ensures that research is freely available to all, removing financial and institutional barriers to knowledge. It promotes collaboration, innovation, and global impact by allowing anyone to read, share, and build upon academic work, fostering a more equitable and accessible scholarly community.
Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research bridges gaps between fields, fostering innovation and deeper understanding. By integrating diverse perspectives, it tackles complex global challenges that single disciplines alone cannot solve, encouraging collaboration, creativity, and meaningful real-world impact. This approach broadens knowledge, leading to groundbreaking discoveries and practical solutions.

Land acknowledgements are a vital act of respect, recognition, and relationship-building among Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. In Calgary, Alberta, we acknowledge Moh’kinsstis and the traditional lands of Treaty 7—the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), Stoney Nakoda Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, Goodstoney), and Tsuut’ina Nation—as well as the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of Alberta Districts 5 and 6. We recognize all who live, work, and engage with this land, fostering connection and reconciliation. Gratitude to the Calgary Foundation for informing this land acknowledgement.
