About the Journal

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Peer Beyond Graduate Research Conference (PBGRC) began in 2017 as a free graduate student conference hosted annually by the UCalgary Graduate Students' Association (GSA). Every year, graduate students from across disciplines gather together and showcase their innovative work.

In that spirit, PBGRC is an open-access publication dedicated to showcasing the innovative research conducted by emerging scholars at the University of Calgary. This interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary journal provides a platform for graduate researchers to share their work, promoting scholarly exchange and collaboration across diverse fields of study.

Founded in 2025 by the Gradaute Students' Association (GSA) Academic Events Committee—the journal represents a longstanding commitment to supporting academic excellence at the graduate level. Our inagural issue, conference proceedings for our 2025 event, became available Summer 2025.

This publication serves not only as a record of scholarly contributions but also as a testament to the vibrant research culture at the University of Calgary.

AUTHOR RIGHTS

PBGRC emphasizes ethical and responsible authorship. Authors retain the rights to their own work and are expected to adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity, including proper attribution of sources and transparent research practices. By fostering a culture of academic honesty, the journal aims to inspire mutual respect and trust among contributors, readers, and reviewers.

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

As a free publication, PBGRC Proceedings underscores its mission to make research widely accessible, aligning with its open-access policy. The journal is proudly sponsored by the Vice President Academic and the Academic Events Committee of the GSA. Its interdisciplinary approach bridges gaps between disciplines and encourages intellectual exploration beyond traditional boundaries, supporting graduate scholars in presenting their work to the academic community and beyond.

INFORMATION PRIVACY

Privacy is a key priority for the journal, ensuring that contributors' information is handled responsibly and securely. While PBGRC does not currently participate in LOCKSS or CLOCKSS archival systems, its commitment to preserving academic work remains a future consideration.
