A note from the CMEJ

A Note from the CMEJ:

As you might have expected (or already know), some big changes are coming to CMEJ in the new year! First, I want to acknowledge and celebrate Marcel D’Eon, who is retiring from his 12-year role as Editor-in-Chief. His leadership and vision have shaped CMEJ into the journal it is today, and we are grateful for his many years of service. Thank-you, Marcel!

With that being said, I am thrilled to step into the role as the new Editor-in-Chief beginning January 1, 2026! One of my goals in the coming months is to clarify and streamline our sections, ensuring each type of submission has a clear purpose, format, and contribution. Some sections will be redefined or paused, while others will be strengthened to showcase academic work more effectively. These adjustments will also support clearer expectations for authors and editors alike and help create a more coherent and recognizable “brand” for CMEJ. Stay tuned as these changes will be rolled out in the new year!

Alongside these structural updates, there will be a few editorial team changes. Marcel will assume the title of Editor Emeritus and will still pitch in where needed as his schedule permits. Marco Zaccagnini (University of Ottawa) will take on the role of Deputy Editor. Marco has been working as Senior Section Editor for Reviews, Theoretical Papers, and Meta-Analyses with the CMEJ. We will also welcome some new section editors and restructuring responsibilities across the board to ensure continuity and quality for the journal.

I’m looking forward to sharing more details in January. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or want to discuss the upcoming changes.

Thank you for your continued support of CMEJ, and here’s to exciting years ahead!

Christina St-Onge
Incoming Editor-in-Chief
