Articles

The Peer-Reviewed Articles section publishes original research and scholarly analyses that make significant contributions to knowledge, debate, and practice within the journal’s areas of focus. The journal welcomes manuscripts that engage critically with contemporary issues, advance theoretical or methodological understanding, and/or provide evidence-based insights with implications for policy, practice, or future research.

The journal encourages submissions from a broad range of disciplinary, methodological, and international perspectives. Contributions may address local, national, regional, or global contexts and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Empirical studies using qualitative, quantitative, mixed, or interdisciplinary methodologies;
  • Conceptual or theoretical papers;
  • Comparative and international analyses;
  • Critical policy analyses;
  • Research on professional, institutional, or organizational practices;
  • Methodological contributions relevant to the field.

Manuscripts should demonstrate originality, analytical depth, and engagement with relevant scholarly literature. Authors are encouraged to present their work in a clear, coherent, and accessible manner that speaks to both academic and professional audiences.

Full-length articles should normally be between 6,000 and 8,000 words, excluding references, tables, figures, and appendices. Longer manuscripts may be considered where justified by the scope and significance of the contribution.

All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. Manuscripts are evaluated on the basis of scholarly quality, originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal’s aims and readership.

Authors should ensure that submissions:

  • Clearly define the research problem, purpose, or central argument;
  • Demonstrate engagement with relevant scholarship and current debates;
  • Employ appropriate and rigorous methodological or analytical approaches;
  • Present findings or arguments in a well-structured and coherent manner;
  • Articulate the significance and implications of the work for research, policy, practice, or theory.

The editorial team particularly welcomes submissions that encourage interdisciplinary dialogue, challenge established assumptions, and contribute to emerging conversations within the field.

Formatting and submission requirements for this section follow the journal’s general author guidelines unless otherwise specified.

Policy, practice, and methodological briefs

The journal welcomes submissions to its Policy, Practice, and Methodological Briefs section. This section is intended to provide a forum for concise, timely, and impactful contributions that address emerging policy issues, innovative practices, and methodological developments relevant to the journal’s scope.

Briefs should present clear and focused insights that are accessible to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders. Submissions may include:

  • Analyses of current or emerging policy developments;
  • Reflections on innovative professional or institutional practices;
  • Discussions of methodological advances, challenges, or applications;
  • Evaluations of pilot initiatives, interventions, or implementation experiences;
  • Evidence-informed recommendations for policy or practice.

Submissions must not exceed 1,000 words, excluding references. Authors are encouraged to write in a concise and accessible style, minimizing technical jargon where possible.

All briefs will undergo peer review to ensure scholarly rigor, relevance, clarity, and contribution to the field. The review process may be expedited to support the timely dissemination of high-quality contributions.

Authors should ensure that submissions:

  • Clearly articulate the issue, innovation, or methodological contribution;
  • Demonstrate relevance to the journal’s audience and aims;
  • Are grounded in appropriate evidence, experience, or scholarly literature;
  • Include practical implications or recommendations where relevant.

The editorial team particularly encourages submissions that bridge research, policy, and practice, and that foster dialogue across disciplines and sectors.
