This research examines the support conditions necessary for the successful implementation of Indigenization processes as a strategy for poverty elimination. Conducted in collaboration with End Poverty Edmonton (EPE), a municipal-level nonprofit focused on poverty elimination, the study employed qualitative methods, including surveys, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, and Indigenous approaches such as conversations and sharing circles. Findings indicate that successful Indigenization requires four key conditions: reciprocal relationships, collective advocacy, space for reflection and learning, and time for adaptive and incremental change. These factors emerged as essential for fostering trust, shifting power dynamics, and embedding Indigenous ways of knowing within systems. The research underscores that Indigenization is a collective effort requiring both Indigenous and non-Indigenous collaboration, strategic learning, and sustained commitment to systemic transformation. The findings contribute to broader discussions on decolonization, reconciliation, and policy change in municipal and organizational contexts.
