Résumé

Paternalistic practices are of growing concern today because of the need 10 protect children's rights and the threat posed by intervention in student affairs by school authorities. My thesis is 1ha1 despite the importance of safeguarding children's right s - and I review and reject the positions of John Holt and Richard Farson five type, of paternalistic practices. Which I explain are warranted. I define a pa1crnali s1ic act as a11empted or successful coercive interference with an action or s1a1c of a person for the subject's welfare.
