Abstract

Public and private schools linked to various religious denominations are part of the Canadian scene. Throughout the years educators have often compared them and discussed their merits. We have taken part in these arguments more often from an administrative perspective than from a perspective dealing strictly with educational questions. In the context of the secular and pluralistic society, the urgent need to promote the development of the spiritual dimension of the person creates new situations and therefore new questions arise. Confronted with this new task, what are the roles of the two systems and how are they to be redefined in relationship to one another?
