Résumé

The nature of the learning which accrues as a result of creative activity is explained variously by aesthetic philosophers. Each of three approaches - appreciative, experiential, and cognitive-is valid for particular educational situations. Each theory-D. W. Gotshalk, John Dewey, Susanne Langer-is explained in relation to an educational purpose showing the rationale for creative activity, suggestions for curriculum planning and teaching methods, and the corresponding direction
for learning.
