Chapter three pertains to "the notion of the Confucian self in its communal and cosmic relatedness" (p. 53) while chapter four discusses "Kristeva's psychoanalytic metaphor of the stranger to analyze the dynamics between the semiotic/maternal and the symbolic/paternal, and to understand the kristevian subject in its fluidity, relationality, and creativity" (p. 88).
