Abstract

The pluralistic society has marked the end of social homogeneity. It has brought about the disintegration of yesterday's certainty relating to beliefs, values, and ethics. In this context, what significance does spiritual development have for young adults? This study illustrates the variety of spiritual experiences that young adults have and the fact that they perceive these experiences as closely related to their personality development. The study also identifies four psyscho-religious profiles. The research, carried out with 168 students at the University of Ottawa, raises the question of how these young people can be best accompanied on the path toward total growth.
