Abstract

In this article I hope to outline some concepts from adult sociali sation theory and demonstrate their utility for the way we think about adult education, particularly in relation to social change and ideology. The article has been occasioned by the author's attempt to grapple with the probl em of valueimposition in relation to a social studies course he has been teaching for a number of years.
