Gary Younge

Gary Younge is an award-winning author, broadcaster, and Professor of Sociology at the University of Manchester. Formerly an editor-at-large at The Guardian, he is an editorial board member of The Nation and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. He has written five books, including Another Day in the Death of America: A Chronicle of Ten Short Lives (2016). Throughout his career his writing has addressed social movements in general (and the civil rights movement in particular), inequality, race, immigration, identity, and politics. He has also written for The New York Review of Books, Granta, GQ, The Financial Times, and The New Statesman, and made several radio and television documentaries on subjects ranging from gay marriage to Brexit. He was a close friend of Andrea Levy’s.
