Author Biography

Jessica Maufort, National Fund for Scientific Research (F.R.S.-FNRS)/ Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB)

Jessica Maufort graduated in Modern Languages and Literatures from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in 2012. Her Master’s thesis examined the multi-faceted archetype of the labyrinth in Caryl Phillips’s late fiction. She holds a second Master’s degree from King’s College London (2014) where her thesis examined the magic realist perceptions/representations of the environment in the novels by Alexis Wright, Murray Bail, and Kim Scott. Currently a third-year PhD student, Jessica is continuing her doctoral research on postcolonial ecocriticism, ecopoetics and magic realist (non-)Indigenous fiction from Australasia and Canada at the ULB thanks to a research fellowship of the Belgian Fund for Scientific Research - FNRS (F.R.S.-FNRS).
