Abstract

The news items include: 1) an account by J.R. MacKay and W.H. Mathews of 17 days' work at the Firth River archaeological site investigating geomorphic and stratigraphic problems; 2) studies on the flora and vegetation of the taiga zone of northern Manitoba by J.C. Ritchie; 3) a field and laboratory study of the ecology, life history and behaviour of ptarmigan near Eagle Summit, Alaska by Robert B. Weeden; and 4) a geomorphological and glaciological investigation in the Torngat Mountains of northern Labrador by J.D. Ives.
