Author Biographies

Anna Kirova, University of Alberta

Dr. Anna Kirova is a Professor of Early Childhood Education in the Department of Elementary Education, University of Alberta. She holds a B.Ed and a Ph. D. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria, and a Ph.D. in Elementary Education from the University of Alberta. Prior to her appointment at the University of Alberta she was an Assistant Professor at Oakland University, Michigan, USA.

Lori Thorlakson, University of Alberta

Dr. Lori Thorlakson holds the Jean Monnet chair in the Department of Political Science and is the Director of the European Union Centre of Excellence at the University of Alberta. Her research interests include party competition and democratic development in the postcommunist member states of the European Union.
