About the Journal

Transformative Social Work is a scholarly refereed open access journal designed to exchange knowledge and promote transformation in the field of social work. The journal aims to advance theoretical understanding, share policy, and inform practice, and welcomes submissions from all areas of social work. Collaborations with other disciplines on social work-related issues are welcome. 

The journal reports on transformative research, discussing practice, and examining principles and theories, and will be read by social work educators, researchers, practitioners, and students who wish to keep informed with innovations and developments in the field. Published twice per year, the journal can be accessed online for free.

Special Issue: Call for Papers on Social Work Field Education

As a Special Issue, we are inviting articles from scholars, practitioners, field educators and students who are engaged in social work field education and/or social work research with implications for field education. We invite members of the Transforming the Field Education Landscape Project (TFEL) Field Research Scholars Program to submit a contribution to the special issue. Areas of article focus could include various aspects of field education in social work, for instance, innovative approaches to field education, promising and wise practices in field education, challenges and opportunities in field education, impact of field education on social work practice and outcomes, equity, diversity, and inclusion in field education, Indigenous field education, Green Social Work, and transformative field education practices and policies.
