2025-03-14

The editorial team of Transformative Social Work is pleased to announce an open Call for Proposals for guest editors to develop a special issue of the journal. We invite social work scholars, students, practitioners, and field educators to submit proposals for developing a special issue within the field of transformative social work. This is an exciting opportunity for guest editors to shape the focus and direction of an issue that amplifies perspectives in transformative social work.

Role of the Guest Editors:

Selected guest editors will be responsible for curating the content of the special issue, with a focused theme(s) and/or topic(s) of relevance, overseeing the review process of submitted manuscripts, and providing guidance to contributors. Guest editors will work closely with the journal’s editorial team to ensure the issue’s alignment with Transformative Social Work’s vision of advancing innovative social work practices, policies, and research.

Proposal Requirements:

Proposals should clearly articulate the theme or focus for the special issue, outline the potential topics and areas for exploration, and explain why the proposed issue will contribute to transformative social work. Proposals should include:

  • Title and Focus: A working title and a clear description of the special issue's theme
  • Justification: Explanation of the issue’s relevance to transformative social work
  • Guest Editor(s): A brief biography (150-200 words) of each proposed guest editor, highlighting their qualifications and experience in the proposed theme

Submission Process:

Please submit your proposal (as a single document) by May 1, 2025 to jdrolet@ucalgary.ca. For any inquiries, feel free to contact the journal’s manager at kingsley.ibe@ucalgary.ca.
