Updates to JURA Policies - just in time for the 2020-2021 school year!
2020-08-13Greetings, industrious undergrads! The editorial board of JURA is glad to announce 3 minor & 1 major changes to the journal, ranging from our scope to our submission process. If you had familiarized yourself with our procedures before now, please read the full announcement post for these updates!
Meanwhile, we would like to remind interested students that our next deadline for submissions is October 1, 2020 (for inclusion in our December 2020 issue). If you have a summer research project that you're just wrapping up now, consider assembling an article about your work and we'll help guide you through the submission and review processes. Check out our submissions page for more info on how to submit to JURA, step-by-step!

Submissions closed for JURA 2020 Fall Edition!
2020-06-24The JURA Editorial Board would like to thank everyone who submitted to our upcoming Full Issue, which is to be released in September 2020!
If you missed the deadline for this round, we have an upcoming Special Edition to be published in the winter, for which the deadline to submit is October 1st. We are very excited to feature the work of some of Alberta’s brightest undergraduates, and we are looking forward to receiving all your future submissions!

2016-2017 JURA Best Paper Award

It is our great pleasure to announce the winner of the 2016-2017 JURA Best Paper Award: Jared Collette and his article entitled "Mechanics of Sarcomeres in Series and Instability".The JURA Best Paper Award ($250) was newly established this year and was selected by the JURA editorial board to recognize this year's undergraduate research article with the highest quality in terms of scientific writing.

Call for papers - JURA Volume 6
2016-11-01Have you done research as an undergraduate student? Ever thought of publishing your work? Not sure which journal to submit to?
The Journal of Undergraduate Research in Alberta (JURA) publishes undergraduate research articles from various disciplines across the campus of the University of Calgary and beyond. We believe the hard work you have done should not just collect dust on university shelves, but rather it should be shared and used amongst the academic community.
Publishing with JURA is an amazing opportunity for you to experience the peer-review process and start collecting academic currency in form of first-author publications.
Speaking of currency, a cash prize award will be given for the best article and featured in JURA’s 6th edition to be published in Spring 2017. The deadline for abstracts and manuscripts is December 31st, 2016, so start writing today!

New Editors for 2014
2013-10-07We are pleased to announce that the Journal of Undergraduate Research in Alberta has two new Editors in Training, Kelsey Collins and Krysta Powers. Both individuals are PhD students in Biomedical Engineering and Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, and have a strong interest in undergraduate research on campus.
