Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, PDF or RTF document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

Author Guidelines

 

General Guidelines

  • Submissions must be in Word (.doc, .docx), OpenOffice (.odt), PDF (.pdf) or Rich Text (.rtf) formats.
  • The word limit is 9,000 excluding bibliography.
  • Manuscripts must be accompanied by an abstract of 100-200 words.
  • Please include a brief description of any figures or images included in the paper.
  • Manuscripts should be prepared for anonymous review, containing no identifying information.
  • Submissions need not conform to the journal style unless and until accepted for publication

Rights You will be asked if any special copyright arrangements exist with regards to the work (e.g. co-authorship, instituional copyright). If no such special arrangement obtains, you can leave the field blank.

Keywords You will be asked to provide keywords for the subject area(s). These terms are to facilitate searches of the database(s) containing the work. Please use a few (at least 3-5) terms that would help identify your work in such a search - area terms (e.g. 'aesthetics', 'practical ethics') as well as jargon terms (e.g. 'consequentialism', 'phenomenology' ) are the most useful.

Language You will be asked what language the work is in. The journal accepts and publishes work in a number of languages: English and French, as well as First Nations languages. We cannot provide translation services, but we will work with authors to produce and publish translations of works where these are wanted.

References You will be asked to provide a list of your references separately. This is not required, and is to aid us in listing the referernces in database indices that ask for them.

Accepted Papers Accepted papers must conform to the Author:Date style exactly as described in the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition. The final document should be in PDF or in a RTF/Word file (.doc) that can be easily converted to PDF. The text should be structured consistently. The name and affiliation of the contributor(s) should appear at the top, along with an abstract of 100 to 200 words.
