Focus and Scope

The Journal of Mind-Body Regulation (MBR) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access, online journal, publishing original research, reports, reviews and commentaries on all areas addressing the interface of brain, mind, and behaviour. As part of its aims and scope, MBR publishes scientific reports spanning trailblazing research in cognitive neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology, neurobiology, neurology, neuropharmacology, psychopharmacology and psychosomatics, alongside clinical vignettes of exceptional merit.

JOURNAL SECTIONS

Articles: MBR publishes peer-reviewed research articles and integrative review articles. These articles (maximum of 8500 words, excluding references, notes and captions) may contain up to six visual components, including figures, tables, images or three-dimensional tomography illustrations. The articles may be accompanied by podcasts, videos, or other interactive or audiovisual material that the authors deem necessary to understanding the article. The "Guidelines for Authors" describe this section in further details.

Letters: Letters are short communications (maximum of 1000 words) discussing material recently published in MBR or issues of general interest. Letters are usually solely text, and are subject to editing.

Editorials: Usually by invitation, editorials highlight recent and cutting edge research that pertains to the current issue. They are relatively short (maximum of 4000 words) and are intended to express the opinions of the author or authors (usually no more than two) on the specific topic of the issue.

News and Views: The News and Views section contains invited comments (maximum of 6000 words) from both experts and non-experts. These comments reflect on themes of interest in specific journal issues. The goal of this section is to discuss current scientific problems and their relevance in globally accessible terms. News and Views are appealing to a broad audience on subjects that might otherwise be too specific.

In Practice...: In Practice... is a section containing clinical vignettes discussing applied and therapeutic techniques from a clinical approach. These vignettes are brief (maximum of 2500 words) and may relate to articles from the current MBR issue or concurrent related themes.

Commentaries: MBR truly values the opportunity of Open Peer Commentary. In this section, authors (scientists and other experts) present analyses and personal insights concerning papers published in current or, exceptionally, previous issues of MBR. These contributions are brief (maximum of 1500 words) and usually relate to a specific article. Although most commentaries are commissioned by the editorial team, unsolicited contributions are welcomed. The "Guidelines for the Preparation of a Commentary" further detail this section. Contact Noémie Aubert Bonn to obtain these guidelines.

Book Reviews: This section comprises short (maximum of 2500 words) reviews of recent influential books in areas pertaining to the current issue. Usually by invitation, authors are invited to share their personal evaluation of the book and to expand on the material offered.
